About Our Volunteers
Some of our volunteers have been with Mosaic for over a decade…
Our team of volunteers come from all over Dorset, Lyme Regis to Christchurch, from young people who have experienced Mosaic support and grown-up to offer their time to Mosaic helping others, to adults, teachers, doctors, retired people, crafters, knitters, keep-fit fanatics and families, everyone is welcome!
We have a wonderful team of volunteers who give their time and energy supporting Mosaic events. Volunteering with Mosaic can involve: supporting families at an activity day helping our fundraising team at an event coming into the office to support with some administration.

“I started volunteering with Mosaic from its inception. Initially I was invited through my work as a palliative care sister, to volunteer, to pick up skills I could use in my daily job when working with families. One of my colleagues was a volunteer with Mosaic. I loved it so much I stayed!!
I have helped with fundraising events, bereavement cafes, residential weekends and day camps, sailing days and sporting bear days.
I love meeting the children and seeing their joy on the activity days. The connections they make with other children are so important and special. They then understand they are not alone in their grief.
I have met some lovely people by volunteering with Mosaic and it feels like my second family! If you are considering being a volunteer, do it! You won’t regret it.”

I have volunteered with Mosaic for several years, initially supporting with administration and later at events, residential camps, and bereavement cafés. Throughout this time, I have felt proud to be involved with such a kind and caring team who are dedicated to supporting children and young people.
At activity days and bereavement cafés, I have seen friendships grow and watched those attending begin to feel less alone, while importantly having the space to remember their special person. Being part of this experience is incredibly rewarding.

Ways to Volunteer
Supporting families, fundraising or helping our office team is so rewarding…
We work through the week and some weekends to support our family events and fundraising, so if you have an hour, an evening or a weekend, you can help support bereaved families in Dorset.
We have three main areas where volunteers can support Mosaic:
Supporting Children and Young People at our Activity Days
Up to 20 children come to our activity days at Leeson House near Swanage. The activity day gives children and young people – and parents – the opportunity to meet others, share their experiences, remember their special person and most importantly ‘HAVE FUN’. The volunteers who help at the activity days attend our in-house training.
Help at Fundraising events
We have a team of volunteers who lend their time to support our fundraising events, help raise awareness of the charity, make craft items to sell and organise events themselves. It is vital all our volunteers help at these events as this is where we are able to generate money to fund events for the families we work with.
Help in the Mosaic office
An extra pair of hands in the office is always welcome. Sending out mail, checking and organising resources for our fundraising events and residential weekends and helping with computer work.

Applying to support Mosaic is quick and easy, we have an application form and we run friendly interviews with people to see how they could help and what special skills could make a difference to Mosaic.
If you have time to spare, from an hour to a weekend and would like to support Mosaic and the children and young people we work with – you can help!
If you are interested, we have a short application form to complete and you will also be invited to attend an informal interview where our friendly staff will talk you through ways you could help Mosaic and what areas of volunteering you would like to support.
