Bereavement Cafes

A Safe and Creative Space for Children to Remember and Connect

At Mosaic, we understand that grief does not end when counselling sessions do – it continues to evolve as children grow and their understanding of loss changes.

Our Bereavement Cafés offer a gentle space for children and young people to come together, reflect, and express themselves through conversation and creativity.

Who can attend?

Mosaic offers Bereavement Cafés in a growing number of schools, which are open to any child or young person who has experienced the death of someone close, whether or not they have previously received one-to-one counselling with Mosaic.

The cafés are held at no cost to the school and all materials and facilitation are provided by Mosaic’s experienced team.

What to expect

A warm, welcoming environment where children can share, listen or simply take part at their own pace

Gentle guidance from a Mosaic counsellor and trained volunteers

A creative activity designed to encourage expression and connection

A space where loss can be acknowledged openly and sensitively

Our aim is to create a nurturing environment that helps children to feel less alone in their grief – a place where they can talk, create and remember.

Help us to continue this work

Our Bereavement Cafés are offered free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. To ensure we can continue providing this vital space for children across Dorset, we rely on funding and donations. Every contribution helps us deliver more cafés, provide materials, and reach more children who need a place to feel understood.
