A workshop to provide a basic understanding of the needs of bereaved children, along with the skills required to support children and young people with learning disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

Learning Outcomes

  • To gain information on resources available.

  • To provide a basic knowledge of the perception of death for a child or a young person with learning difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • To consider theories of loss and mourning in relation to children or young people with learning difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • To develop greater confidence in providing support and clear communication about death with children or young people with learning difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • To identify an awareness of our own needs as professionals and explore ways we can self-support

This workshop is suitable for individuals who have previously attended our 'Introduction to Child Bereavement' workshop or have attended a similar level of bereavement training.

Kindly funded by Ducks & Drakes Cancer Trust. Places are limited to 2 per organisation, per workshop and to 2 workshops per person. Further places can be booked at a cost of £85 per person.
