World Mental Health Day - Thursday 10th October 2019

Although mental health is something which is of paramount importance every day of the year, World Mental Health Day offers a perfect opportunity to consider how we can look after our minds as well as our bodies! In this week's blog, members of the Mosaic team are taking the time to share some of our favourite mental health resources.

Diana – Music never fails to make me feel good.

I love music and when I feel the need for a boost, turning up the radio playing songs that make me want me to get up and move around always makes me feel better. Going to a concert or musical and being surrounded by those who share my love for a band or artist is guaranteed to make me feel good!

Laura – I love to get outside and go walking!

As a huge lover of the countryside, getting out and about in nature is hugely beneficial for my mental health. Taking the dog for a walk offers me some quiet time to reflect on things that are happening in my life. The best part about exercise and fresh air is that it is completely free!

Emily – Reading is the best thing I can do for my mental health!

'Three in the morning is never the time to try and sort out your life' Matt Haig

When I'm having a tough time, my comfort blanket is ALWAYS reading. My favourite book on the topic of mental health is Matt Haig's 'Reasons to Stay Alive'. Matt's story is so inspiring. The book is such a powerful and emotive read that acts as a reminder that there is always good to be found amongst the bad!

Manuela – There are so many great apps to help with relaxation!

Taking time out to relax is important for my mental health. I have found there are lots of great apps which help me to wind down, including 'Companion' and 'Mindfulness'. These apps contain hints and tips to help you relax and unwind after a busy, stressful day and help me to manage the difficult things that life throws at me!

Siân – Taking time out to do things that I enjoy!

Being a member of a choir, my favourite mood booster is singing! Meeting up with everyone each week at choir gives me time to switch off from the day and just enjoy doing something I love! My favourite songs to sing are those which have a good beat, that you just can't help but move along with!
